Healthy Performers NV proudly presents the 2026 Northern Nevada Workshop, a collaborative weekend dedicated to the health, longevity, and performance success of Nevada’s performing arts community.

This immersive event brings together medical professionals, performing artists, educators, and movement specialists to provide evidence-informed care, education, and resources specifically designed for performers.

Inspired by the growing field of Performing Arts Medicine, our mission is to support the unique physical and mental demands faced by artists in dance, theater, and music — helping performers move better, recover smarter, and sustain long, healthy careers.

Through collaboration between specialists in Physical Therapy, Sports Medicine & Orthopedics, Nutrition, Mental Performance & Psychology, Exercise Science & Movement Education. This workshop creates a space where artistry and health work together.

“Break a leg… Safely: The Ideal Dance Warm-Up” with Holli Charm, DPT, Dance Instructor
A dynamic education movement class designed to improve core control, stability, alignment and performance efficiency.

11:30 AM – 12:30 PM
“How to Improve Your Turns” with Nicole Posnick-Wolf, DPT
Explore the biomechanics and technical foundations behind cleaner, stronger, and more consistent turns for dancers and performers. Movement-based portion of this class will demonstrate exercises focusing on trunk engagement, vestibular practice, and proper alignment.

“Dancer Nutrition: Healthy Ways to Fuel Your Body for Dance & Performance”

Learn practical strategies for energy management, recovery nutrition, sustainable fueling and performance optimization.

Hip Pain: What’s the Cause and When Is It Dangerous?
With Dr. Luis Palacio, Renown Sports Medicine
A discussion on understanding hip pain in performers, identifying red flags, and recognizing when medical evaluation is necessary.

2:30 PM – 3:30 PM
“Solving Hip Issues in Dance & Performance” with Carrie Cameron, DPT, ATC
A movement-based educational session covering common dance related hip issues and injuries, strength and mobility interventions and performance focused exercises.

3:30 PM – 4:30 PM
“Performing Under Pressure: Mental Control, Emotional Resilience & Avoiding Burnout in High-Stakes Environments”
Explore the mental side of performance including:

  • Recognize and regulate their nervous system under pressure (auditions, performances, high-stakes environments.
  • Manage performance anxiety and intrusive thoughts in real time
  • Avoid emotional burnout from constant evaluation, comparison, and physical demand
  • Maintain confidence and composure despite inconsistency, mistakes, or external pressure
  • Develop simple, repeatable tools to reset mentally between performances or rehearsals
